This modern waterslide material works similarly to
vintage decals. Our decals are printed onto a thin film emulsion that
slides off a paper backing when dampened. To apply our decals:
o
Wet a clean soft cloth,
then wring it out well. Place the cloth flat (fold it to fit) on a plate
or other waterproof surface.
o
Cut around the decal and
backing. Allow a little space around the decal to prevent cutting into the
design.
o
Lay the decal paper side
down on the wet cloth and press down. The water will wick up through the paper
backing.
o
In about 60 seconds, test
the decal to see if it is loose from the backing. If it is not, give it a
little longer on the damp cloth; if it is, proceed to the next step.
o
Using another dampened,
wrung out cloth, dampen the surface to which you will be applying the decal for
added "slip."
o
Slip the decal off the
backing and directly onto the surface where you want to apply it. Use your
second damp cloth to gently smooth the decal onto the surface, working all
wrinkles and air bubbles to the edge. You can reposition the decal as long as
the surface beneath is still wet enough to allow it to slide without ripping.
o
Set the item aside until the
decal dries thoroughly. Then seal it if desired with acrylic spray or brush-on
coat. Unsealed decals are easier to remove if you change your mind later.
Sealed decals are safe to wipe with a damp cloth but will still soak off with
immersion, scrubbing or a session in the dishwasher.
These decals cannot be fired. They work well on indoor
furniture, walls, glassware and glazed ceramics. They can be decoupaged onto
sealed woodenware.
